About this safari
Leave your hotel early in the morning and drive to Shimba Hills National Reserve located South of Mombasa. On this 1 day Shimba Hills safari you may see one of the most beautiful antelopes, the sable antelope. It's the only sable population in Kenya. You may also see elephants, giraffes, buffalos and other antelopes, as well as ostriches and eagles. The butterflies are plentiful. The big African cats are represented by the leopard, but it is rarely seen, as the rich vegetation is perfect for this secretive cat to hide in. There are also serval cats and hyenas. You will also visit the Sheldrick Falls, which is a short walk through the park - you can take a cold shower under the 25-metre falls, swim safely in the cool water pool or even have a picnic by the cascades on sand. The level of the pool depends on the season: during the rainy season, you can easily swim in the pool and there is one fall; during dry season, the pool is tiny and there are two spring water falls. Afterwards proceed for lunch at the Shimba Hills Tree Lodge. Relax after lunch then go for the afternoon game drive. You leave the park at around 4.00pm to arrive at your hotel around 6.00pm.
